5th to 7th August 2018

Kendal again!  A record breaking fourth visit this year to what is fast becoming one of our favorite sites.  With the school holidays upon us we wanted somewhere quiet where we wouldn't be surrounded by other caravans, and this C&MC site turned out to be a good choice.

A Sunday start to avoid the crowds, we were over the moon when we discovered that pitch 21 was free.  The best pitch on the site, surrounded by bushes and trees with no other caravans visible from it.

No shade early afternoon, but it didn't matter because we drove to the nearby farm shop to get some (very expensive) supplies and by the time we got back there was a sliver of shade by the side of the caravan.  The farm shop has machine that dispenses milk "straight from the cow" and J got some.  D not so keen on whole milk, preferring skimmed!

Late afternoon we walked to the Strickland Arms and had a couple of drinks in the beer garden before returning to site for a barbecue.

Afterwards we sat outside the caravan until it got dark, enjoying the peace and quiet.  A new visitor to our bird feeder this trip...a jay.

Grey skies all day today and a bit of rain in the afternoon.  We headed for Cartmel and went for a walk in the nearby hills, the not very high point being How Barrow.

Nice views of the estuary and Ulverston, but not a great day for pics, so there aren't many.

After the walk we had a drink in Unsworth's yard in Cartmel, which is home to a small brewery.  We like Cartmel and would like to spend a bit of time there.  Just need to find a nearby caravan site.  We might have to consider a CS or CL site.

After dinner in the caravan we had a couple of drinks in the Strickland Arms.

We could have easily stayed another day, but work was calling, and we have to work to pay for all of these trips.  Easily one of our best trips of the year, this site never seems to disappoint these days.  No problems on the way home, we left early and were in our house before midday.

Coming soon...

Nothing booked, we might stay at home now until after the bank holiday madness!
